We would like to honor our RISD principals for National Principals Month!
Thanks to Mrs. English, Mr. Alsup, Mr. Wilson, and Mrs. Milton for all you do to support and help our staff and students!
Bullying Prevention Awareness Day is Monday, October 7. Please encourage your students to wear orange that day. And, if possible, talk to them about bullying. See below for information on bullying:
*Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.--
*Bullying comes in many forms, including, verbal, physical, social, cyber bullying, racial, religious, sexual, and disability.
*Encourage students to stand up to a bully and tell them to leave them alone..."I don't like what you are doing!"
*We encourage our students to be upstanders - if they see bullying going on, they need to stand up to the bully and let them know this is wrong and not tolerated at RES.
*A bystander is someone who just "stands by" and allows bullying to go on without standing up to the bully.
WEEKLY EVENTS
HOSA is hosting this year's blood drive on Wednesday, October 2. We need a minimum of 50 donors.
So anyone that is willing to donate is welcome! If someone is donating for a senior, they need to be sure to mention the seniors name at donation in order for them to receive credit for the Red Cord program.
The blood donated is distributed to our local hospitals. We appreciate anyone willing to sign up to donate. Our next blood drive will be in January. Thank you for your willingness to help save lives!
CHROMEBOOK INSURANCE IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA -- MANY HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED FOR THIS YEAR , BUT IF YOU HAVEN'T THESE ARE THE FINAL DAYS!
Rivercrest ISD has optional device insurance available to pay for damages as a result of neglect. Based on the agreement that all students and parents signed prior to the issuance of the Chromebook or iPad, students and parents are responsible for all damage caused by neglect, abuse, or loss.

GRANPARENTS DAY INFORMATION
Dear Students, Parents and Visitors,
At Rivercrest Elementary, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities.
**As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a secure environment, we kindly remind everyone to sign in at the front office upon entering the school premises. A state issued ID will be necessary to enter the building -- please remember to bring it with you 🪪
**If your student is leaving with anyone other than the custodial parent, please email bus@rivercrestisd.net or send a note in his/her folder.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round Up! If you know a child who will be of age next year, please share this information with them. Parents and potential students are welcome to come anytime between 3:00 - 5:00 pm on May 10.
** If your child is already enrolled in Pre-K this school year -- you don't need to do anything. All their information will roll up to kindergarten.

Rivercrest ISD will not have school on Friday, March 29 or Monday, April 1. Happy Easter!
Rivercrest ISD will have early dismissal on Friday, March 8 at 1:00.
Rivercrest Spring Break -- March 11 - 15, 2024.
Monday, March 18 will be a Teacher Inservice Day and students will return to school on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Rivercrest ISD will not have school on Monday, February 19. It is a scheduled staff development day. Enjoy your 3 day weekend!
Rivercrest Elementary:
Valentine's Celebrations will be Friday, Feb. 16th.
In order to reduce interruptions to instructional time, we will be having Valentine's celebrations on Friday, Feb. 16th.
Please try to schedule any Valentine's deliveries for Feb. 16th. We will still accept deliveries on Feb. 14th, but we will not interrupt classes to deliver. Your child will be able to pick items up in the office at the end of the day.
Teachers will send out specific classroom celebration information.
**Please keep these things in mind when delivering items to the school:
Balloons can limit/block bus driver's view and can be a safety hazard on buses. Please do not send balloons if your child is a bus rider.
Glass vases/jars are not recommended for young children as broken glass can cause injury.
