Dear parents:
Today, at Rivercrest Junior High School, your child participated in an emergency evacuation drill. It is important for students to be prepared and not scared should a situation ever occur. Please talk to your child about the drill, and reinforce the importance of practicing.
If this had been a real emergency, you would have received instructions on what needed to be done in order for all students to remain safe and secure. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office.
Thank you for continuing to trust Rivercrest with your students' safety and education.

8th grade parents: We still need your help with working concessions stands at volleyball and basketball games. If you are willing to help, please contact Lois Hall. Loishall@calvarytalco.com

Dear Parents, Staff & Students,
The walkathon is back! We have scheduled this student fundraiser for October 18th. The morning will be spent walking/running on the track followed by lunch at the track, or cafeteria.
All money raised will be used to help pay for class trips for our students. Each student is required to raise a minimum of $10 to participate in the walkathon. There are two ways sponsors can donate:
1. Sponsors can make a flat donation for the student to participate.
2. Sponsors can pledge an amount of money per lap. For example, if you pledged $0.25 per lap and a student completes 20 laps (five miles), you would pay $5.
We have a convenient new way to pay this year. If you scan our QR code with your phone, you will be able to pay electronically. We ask that you make a note with your donation (Walkathon) so the money can be earmarked for our JH students. If you would prefer to use cash or a check, we will gladly accept those as well.
Every year we award cash prizes to the students who earn the most money and cover the most laps, so lace up those running shoes and find those sponsors!
Thank you in advance for donating to our student fund. It is always a fun day for our students, and an opportunity to help them have new experiences.
Sincerely,
Lee Wilson

Today, during lunch at Rivercrest Junior High School, students heard gunshots near the playground area. Students were immediately brought into the building to ensure their safety.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that some neighboring property owners were target shooting. When alerted to our concerns, the property owners agreed to end their practice and not resume during that time of day in the future.

Homecoming is next week. Show your school pride by dressing up each day.

Dear 8th grade parents,
Each year our 8th grade students have the opportunity to work in the concession stand at JH volleyball and basketball games. This earns money for our end-of-school activities. What we don't use will go forward with them to aid their Project Graduation account in high school.
Lois Hall has graciously agreed to help with organizing workers this year. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to her via email (Loishall@calvarytalco.com), or text (903-285-8205).
Thanks in advance!
