April 17, 2020

Dear Rivercrest ISD Community,

I hope that you and your loved ones are doing well, staying healthy, and are able to adapt and cope with the new, and hopefully temporary, changes in our lives.

This is a strange time.  We know that the school normally gets very busy this time of the year with all the extracurricular and end of year activities going on, but this year is very, very different.  It is quiet here at school and we miss seeing our kids!

I look forward to the day when school can get “back to normal,” but it looks like we are going to have to wait a little longer for that to happen.  Today, April 17, 2020, Governor Abbott announced that Texas schools will remain closed through the end of the school year.  Although we would love to get our students back to school, it just isn’t the right time to do that safely, so we will continue to make the adjustments that we need to make for this closure.

At this time, there are no reasons to make any changes to the systems that we currently have in place.  We will continue moving forward to provide instruction and food services with the procedures already established.   However, with this announcement, there are some changes that must be made.  I am sorry to say that end-of-year school activities, including Prom and all banquets, must be cancelled.  A graduation ceremony for our seniors is not being cancelled, but we will meet to determine when, and by what method, that can take place.  We will get information out as soon as we can concerning graduation.

Our leadership team will continue to meet to get answers to questions that you might have, and we will do our best to get that information out to our parents and community as soon as we can.

Again, we ask for your patience and cooperation as this is something we are all experiencing together for the very first time.

I know that these are difficult times and although we are physically apart from each other, we are still in this together.  We will make it through these uncertain times.

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have.

Thank You,

Stanley Jessee
