BULLYING
At Rivercrest Junior High, we take bullying very seriously. At the beginning of each school year we talk with the students about bullying and the consequences. We define bullying in all of its forms, we talk about the consequences, and we encourage students to be "heroes" instead of "losers" by standing up for others. Students are informed that they will receive lunch detention, after school detention, or even ISS (In-School-Suspension) for displaying bullying behaviors depending on the severity and frequency. We continue to discuss bullying throughout the year during classroom visits and in whole school discussions in the auditorium.
Our students are encouraged to display good character and compassion with our "GET CAUGHT DOING THE RIGHT THING" program. Any student, teacher, or staff member can "catch" another student doing the right thing. If a student is spotted doing the right thing, they will find a "ticket" in their locker. The ticket allows them to have a FREE FRIDAY out of tutorials once a six weeks. It also enters them into a drawing for $100.00 that will be given away at the end of the school year. The more you are caught, the more chances you have to win!!
