Don't Slow Down Your Page With Large Images

Photos can make a boring web page snap to life, but images too large can slow it down to a crawl. Most digital camera's default to a high resolution, 2800X3900 or more. Pictures on your web page need to be much smaller depending on the application. Many times 400X600 (or 600X400 if its landscaped) is plenty big enough and even smaller resolutions may be appropriate.
If you don't have software to shrink your photo's, fear not, there are plenty of free ones available. I would recommend iZoom for MAC or for PC, FastStone Photo Resizer. Both are easy and simple to use without have to learn to use an editing program like Photoshop.
Photos are great but don't run people off with pages that take forever to load, shrink them down and people will be able to enjoy your site as you intended.
