College Applications, College Visits, and Virtual College Tours
Visit a college ---in person or via the Internet!

To apply to most public Texas colleges:
www.applytexas.org Through this web site, you can apply to most Texas community colleges (2-year) and universities (4-year), as well as apply for many of the colleges' general scholarships. Be aware of the deadlines for both by going to the individual college's web sites. Some scholarship deadlines are before admission deadlines, but you may go ahead and apply for scholarships before being admitted.
General college information:
www.collegefortexans.com Information about all aspects of college can be found on this page: comparing costs, financial aid, preparing for college tests, etc.
Virtual college tours
A huge amount of information can be found about a college without ever going. All you need is the Internet. Go to these addresses, find the schools you are interested in, and take a virtual tour!

College Visits
If you are interested in visiting a college during the 2011-12 school year, a senior or junior must do the following in order for the absence to be excused:
1. Check the handbook for times that are allowed for college visits. Seniors may have 2 days; juniors may have 1.
2. Get the principal's approval beforehand.
3. Get a College Visit Permission form from Mrs. Foster and have Mr. Littlejohn sign it before you go.
3. Have that form filled out and signed by a college representative during the college visit.
4. Return that form to the high school office when you return to school.
If you prefer not to miss a day, remember that colleges do not follow the same schedule we do. They may be open on a day we are out for a holiday or for teacher in-service. Also, look at the colleges' web sites. They nearly always have a special preview day in the fall and in the spring on a Saturday in order to showcase their school for prospective students.
