Classroom Policies
Be on time! If you don’t make it through the door and in your seat before the bell finishes ringing….YOU ARE LATE!
Be prepared! Have all science materials with you when you enter the classroom. Book, Science Journal (composition notebook), notebook, paper, pens/pencils, homework and/or other required supplies as assigned.
Be courteous to others!
• Listen while others are speaking.
• Raise your hand if you wish to ask a question or contribute information.
• No foul language.
• Don’t be unnecessarily loud and boisterous.
• Stay on-task. Don’t distract people from their work.
• Stay in the group you are assigned during group activities.
• Keep all objects, hands and feet to yourself.
• Give your undivided attention to the teacher during instruction.
No eating or drinking in class! Put them away before you come into class, or throw them in the trash, unless you are given something to eat or drink in class by me.
No cell phones or music-playing devices in class! Put them away before you come into class. This includes the headphones and cords. Put them in the basket marked for electronics.
• No warnings will be given. Anytime these items are out and visible, they will be picked up.
Grading Policies
Three assignment categories will make up your grade in this class:

Student progress reports will be handed out at the 3 week mark in each six weeks. Reports cards will be handed out at the end of each six weeks.
A = 90 – 100 B = 80 – 89 C = 70 – 79 F = below 70
You will take a notebook test each six weeks. You will be required to keep all graded assignments, tests, handouts, labs and notes. You will not be able to complete the notebook test without these papers.
You will be responsible for taking a six weeks test at the end of each six weeks. You will also be responsible for taking a semester exam at the end of the fall and spring semesters unless you meet the requirements to be exempted.
Requirements for Exemption: The requirements for exemptions will follow the Student Handbook.
Assignment Policies
Assignments: All assignments are due on the due date assigned. Students are expected to keep track of due dates and turn their work in on time.
The Due Date is the date the assignment must be turned in to receive full credit. Work turned in one day late will be penalized 30points.
Students with excused absences are able to make up and turn is missed assignments in a time frame proportional to the number of days missed without penalty.
Students with unexcused absences must make up missed work, but the assignment grades will be penalized 30 points.
No extra credit work will be assigned. If you do the assigned work you will not need extra credit work.
Supplies
Composition Notebook (non-spiral type) book bound that has pages sewn together (Science Journal)
(Students will keep a Science Journal that will be tool used to study and review for test, and homework assistance. This will be a major part of each six weeks grade. Composition Notebooks will need to be used specifically for science. Students are not allowed to tear pages from the composition notebook.)
Notebook to keep your graded papers and test to use for study guides for semester test and notebook check test.
Notebook paper (loose paper separate from Science Journal)
Blue or Black Ink Pens
Pencils
